You still see these, the T4 generation, every day here in Germany. Multiple times a day usually. Work vans and double cabs mostly, although the people carriers, camper vans and pickup bed versions are still not uncommon either . The newer generations are obviously more common, as production of the T4 ended 17 years ago.

I believe we only got them for one year as a mainstream van in 1993, then 1999-2003 with the facelift. We never got any of the utility versions, only passenger vans and campers. You could still buy them from 1994-1998, but only as a Winnebago conversion . The T4s were never popular over here:
